For those who are waiting for their new nanos, an immediate update has been released. I'm not sure what has changed though, possibly a bug fix.

Ironic that FACEBOOK is one of websites that most often CRASHED Safari 4.0.3 OFTEN!
I'm not sure who's to blame for that, Apple or Facebook, but since many other websites don't crash Safari 4.0.3, doesn't this seem like the little stubborn child refusing to do his homework properly?
Btw, I've yet to extensively test Safari 4.0.4 on Facebook, but my past experience was that Facebook has always been buggy on Macs, and every new update to the site always seems to cause a Mac-specific problem.
I have never EVER had Facebook crash Safari. And I use Facebook heavily.
Sounds something is wrong with your setup or you just enjoy spreading FUD.

So you think that Adobe is bad because CS3 does not run on Snow Leopard?
Think again.
CS3 has been published a long while ago, and Snow Leopard is brand new. A lot of system libraries have changed. I do not expect Windows 3.1 software to run correctly on Windows 7 either.
Are there any Mac developers out there?
Apple must have caused software vendors to rewrite their software a gazillion times:
- they switched from the 68K to the PowerPC to Intel
- they switched from OS9 to Carbon to Cocoa
- for Snow Leopard, if you want to run as a 64-bit app, you have to switch to the Cocoa libraries, and much of Carbon is deprecated.
Apples next OS will most likely drop Carbon altogether. I have written programs for the Mac for a long time now, and I have spent 75% of my productivity just rewriting my programs over and over again to adopt them to Apple's library changes.
Adobe is big, but I bet that many of their Mac programmers are busy just following Apple as they try to leave software vendors in the dust because they switch system libraries and CPUs at will. Did Microsoft ever do this? Yes, partly - they went from 16 to 32 to 64 bits. But I can still run the Reversi game that came with Windows 1.03 on Windows 7!
And you Java lovers - go to the Sun web site and install Java. Just try. I have not seen complaints that this is impossible.
This is not a technical issue. Every skilled team of programmers can make their software run on another platform. This is a battle of lawyers. Apple does not permit any bytecode execution engine (such as the Java and ActionScript VMs) to run on the iPhone. Period.

instead of riding on the US Military coat-tails ... I would rather we put in a bigger share
For what exactly? I'm interested what you think a(n) (unnecessarily) larger military would do for Canada?:confused:

I don't think it is mate. The one I posted a few posts up includes batteries up to August 2006 whereas that link of yours is only to 2005. That one again is:

it would not surprise me at all to see MBP's announced in the next couple of days in the same way this was announced; press release + updated store.
that way the 12th can be "and before we get into itunes stuff, lets recap: look at all this new stuff....."
edit: yeah. what hecubus said!

Steve looks unhealthy. He's not as sharp as he used to be. His keynotes were flawless. He stuttered several times, forgot what he was saying in mid sentence, and handed a considerable amount of the keynote to other people. Steve was a control freak in past WWDC keynotes.
I think he may be in not-so-good health. But I've said that before.
He might be a little under the weather, but he'll be fine. If you go back and watch the video from the WWDC '05 he looked totally out of place; dressed in all black and very little energy. It's a fluxional phenomenon with his appearance. WWDC '05 he looked terrible, Apple Special Event #1(Intel iMac & iPod Nano) he looked great, Apple Special Event #2 (iPod Video) he looked great, Macworkd '06 he looked fine, Apple Special Event #3(iPod HiFi announcement) he looked like he had just woke up.
The one thing to remember is that this is a Developer's Conference so there is not going to be a lot of pizazz with flashy announcements. There was not a whole lot of new mind-blowing things announced so he could have been a little bit bored with it.
No matter what, with the transition to Intel chips complete now Apple can start devoting more time to truly new designs and hardware.

is this really a big deal?
Seriously, The Beatles were great, I would think by now most people have their songs. How many Lp's and Cd's they sold? How many Millions.
The only positive thing from this outcome is that Apple Corps will stop filling lawsuits against Apple Computer. Besides that, I see no point as this being a big deal.
Basically this is a very big deal. The Beatles catalog is similar to the Star Wars movies. The release of the material on a particular platform or format gives final legitimacy to the format.
Think of the Beatles catalog as the crown jewels of music (as the Star Wars movies are the crown jewels of movies, we'll be seeing but BlueRay and DVD-HD courting Lucas Films, whichever format they chose will be the standard, you may not agree, but that's just the was it goes).
Also there are quite a few people who have packed away their albums and CDs, but then they're reminded of a classic Beatles song and it's easy for them to spend the money to re-purchase the album than go into storage and then rip it. And if the sound quality is better!
How can the sound quality be better, well in the 80's and 90's a lot of stuff was either rushed out (not the case in the Beatles catalog) or the technology was not up to par (which is the case), so it's possible that an iTunes version may actually sound better than the initial CD release of the Beatle catalog from the late 80's.

This is the way HDR should always be done; not too extreme. Very nice. I love it.
Thanks but it isn't HDR. :)
Canon 35mmf/2.0 lens on 7D

Adjusted the white balance, recovery, and fill in post and that's it. Liked it too much to muck around with it. :D

While you're at it why not steal car if you can't pay for it? Or go to your local store and swipe an iPhone because you can't afford it? Sounds reasonable then I'm sure.
Also, while I'd love cheaper pricing, they are basing their pricing off of economic considerations from their home country and pricing their software accordingly. And it always cracks me to hear "no one will starve they makes lots of money!" well they have to in order to keep making new software!

It probably has to do with the three20 project incident a couple of days ago. Basically some devs had their apps rejected because they were using three20 which had some private API calls.
That's pretty understandable then. Having not only your work but other devs work rejected because they used your library - that's your reputation at stake
He should have just come out and said it

I Think C2D MacBook Tomorrow But Election May Delay A Day.
Nothing different except C2D at same speeds, 3GB option, 160GB and 200GB HD Offerings.
Fair thought - but aren't Apple a Global company with a global product? I would have thought anything local wouldn't impact on a worldwide strategy...but then again...

The report notes that Apple waited to adopt 3G technology until is had significantly matured
BS. 3G was fully matured at the time of release of the first Iphone. It had been commercially adopted for over 5 years at that point in time.

not really. If I like Pink Floyd, I like Pink Floyd...not the Beatles.
Saying I like Apples doesn't = I like oranges...though both are fruit.
I get the point of what txa1265 was saying.. lots of these bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zep were either influenced or used the rock beats that the Beatles created/expanded upon.
A better group comparison would be Black Sabbath, who were totally inspired by the Beatles. Simply playing both bands' songs side by side isn't how to compare, but more on a deeper musical level. The underlying parts.
Given all that, I know many people that don't like the Beatles but like other bands that may/may not have been directly influenced by them.

That would be totally irrelevant.
Except for Apple, they all build the same old PCs. Because they all build the same product, sales can move from one company to another company very, very quickly, as we can see from the enormous growth followed by a very quick fall of Acer. Apple has 9.3%, so the rest has 90.7%. It would be possible with these numbers to have nine companies selling more than Apple. If Apple doubles their share to 18.6%, you still could have four companies selling more than Apple.
Right. My point is that Apple's market share is increasing to to increased sales in PC's rather than other companies' failures. As their percentage increases, the number of companies that could possibly simultaneously have greater market share decreases.
Apple's position in this chart doesn't matter one bit; not even the market share really matters; the thing that matters is how many Macs are sold. If HP takes a few sales away from Toshiba, Apple comes third. But if Acer takes a few sales away from HP instead, Apple comes fifth. What does it matter? (BTW. The IDC report at macobserver shows Apple fourth, with Acer having lost a lot more and coming fifth, not third).
As Apple's sales increase and the sum of the competitions' decrease, Apple's market share has to increase. They can take away from each other but if they are all losing sales then Apple has to go up.
If Apple is selling tons of products, in a market with plenty of competitors, how can they be not competitive? 9.3% of buyers in the USA decided that for their money, a Mac is the best computer they can find.
I see Apple slowly rising to a respectable 15% market share over the next few years. Again, the top market share will likely be below 30% so 15% is very good. 9% is very good. HP may increase market share for a while with decrease overall sales of other windows PC sellers but that won't last. If they break 30% it will be temporary.

jeez, 8 whole mega pixels??? Wow fruit, welcome to you sure are being generous here. My android phone has 8mp and it came a full year ago... The pictures it takes are pretty sweet compared to my friends i(paidtomuch)phone4. I'm not trying to bash anyone but I see a lot of fruit boys on here saying they are OK with whatever fruity says. Ya'll really need to revolt or something because that's not right. I guess once the specs are finalized, we will see a 10+ mega pixel camera on either android or windows phone? I have no idea..
I will suggest that perhaps a physical side camera button like the Windows phone has for taking pictures would great because with a touchscreen it is hard to tell if you took a picture in a noisy environment when you can hear the click.
That is all.

I believe Apple did go with a larger sensor in the iPhone 4.
They kept the same pixel size as from before, but made the sensor larger to increase the number of pixels. It's also uses backlit illumination, per Steve Jobs.

Why would Apple go about doing all this work when Steve Jobs's friend Jeff Bezos has been spending the past several years scanning all of his inventory for the 'Look Inside' feature? And they cover just about every book on Earth. And they've been in the default Safari bookmarks for years. Etc.
Just because you have the content scanned doesn't mean its ready for e-book format. As I said before Apple would be better off working with e-reader who has something along the lines of 16,000+ books ready to go.

Games.
The vast majority of their sales are to less-technology/gadget-savvy users who have bought their Mac because of other people telling them that Macs are good, rather than the hardware, specs, or software on the computer.
In the end, it is all marketing... which is the case with most of Apple's products.
They have been selling PC hardware now for years at a higher price than their competitors.
Windows 7 isn't any worse (or better) than MacOS for browsing the web or checking email.....
so its not the OS that is influencing soccer moms and emo kids to buy Mac either.
It is the 'cool' factor, IMO
I like your 'games' point but not so sure about your other claims.
Did you mean that Windows buyers ARE more techno-savvy?
Or that Techno-Savvy types tend to avoid Macs?
Higher Prices for Better Machines.
Fantastic designs are not cheap. And Apple never skimps on Components
Quality Windows PCs cost about the Same as Macs but don't have iLife.
You think a Mom or kid wouldn't think the Mac OS is more attractive and easier to use?
You say "People telling them Macs are good" but are not clear why they do tell them that. Are Macs really good or is "All marketing"?
'Cool'
What does that mean? Is it just another word for 'Trendy'?
How did Macs get to be cool or trendy?
I always defined cool as 'being comfortable being yourself'
Finally, why does every switcher I meet have the same expression on their face. They all look relieved, like we have just pulled them into the life boat.
Cool may get you to buy something but it can't make you LOVE something.
So why do Mac users LOVE their machines so much?
If you own one I don't really have to explain.

I don't get why everyone is complaining about the icon in the dock, all they changed was the color of the eighth note. It wasn't that big a deal.
That's not true. Unlike the last couple revisions to the icon, the look as a whole also changed. The CD/DVD is different, the lighting is different, etc. I do prefer the old icon.
That said, I think this new version of iTunes is amazing! Who really cares if the icon is not my favorite? The features are fantastic! And I like the look of the actual interface a lot.
I get excited about updates like this because they are free! Computer updates are great, but I can only afford one every few years. iTunes I use everyday, and it's free.:D
